According to "Jordan Times", nine industrial companies signed agreements with a consultancy firm to rationalize energy consumption. The agreements were signed between the companies and the Energy Management Services Company under the supervision of the Jordan Upgrading and Modernization Program (JUMP.) JUMP, an independent national program managed by a steering committee headed by Minister of Industry and Trade Sharif Zu'bi, seeks to improve and sustain competitiveness of local companies by enhancing their managerial capabilities and productive capacities. Earlier this year, JUMP launched an initiative to hire international energy management companies to conduct studies for local companies on energy rationalization and transforming industries' energy source from petrol derivatives into natural gas.
